Rahul Bedi, PhD
Bedi has founded 20/20 Global Advisors to provide knowledge based services such as global strategy, outsourcing and technology transfer. He has crafted complex international strategic partnerships for an Indian corporation and negotiated technology transfer agreements from Europe and U.S. to India.
Bedi served for over 10 years on the boards of the Tea Council of USA and the Tea Council of Canada. These two boards were made up of the CEOs of tea companies such as Lipton, Nestle, Kellogg’s, Twinning, Tetley, Red Rose and ambassadorial representatives from producing countries such as India, Sri Lanka, and Kenya. During his tenure on these two boards from 1979 to 1991, Bedi was influential in aligning the interests of the governments of India, Kenya, and Sri Lanka with those of the tea companies, in the USA and Canada resulting in reversal of decline in tea consumption and growth of high value specialty teas.
Bedi has strong experience in the interplay between the private and public sectors. He represented India’s commercial interests in the European Economic Community and North America. In addition, he has participated in high level negotiations for intergovernmental agencies such as the United Nations and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development.
In the mid 1990’s, Bedi transferred his knowledge and expertise to the field of higher education. He attained a doctorate in corporate governance and his MBA in International Business and Finance and is currently a Professor at Berkeley College where he teaches Management, Globalization, and International Business. In addition, Bedi is System Associate Chair of the Management department with over 95 (45 full-time and 50 adjunct) faculty members. He has recently served as a member of the College’s Strategy Committee, the Accreditation Steering Committee, the Assessment Committee, and the Global Studies Committee.
Remaining active in international business, Bedi is Vice President of the India-America Chamber of Commerce. He is an active member of the Governance and Ethics Committee of International Consortium of Coaching Organizations (ICCO) that is based in Chicago. Having worked internationally in India, Europe, and the United States, he has a keen understanding of the cultural diversity and business practices of these regions.
Bedi holds an MBA (Beta, Gamma, Sigma) from Stern Business School and Ph.D. from Trident University International. He has completed a one year Executive Program at IMD, in Lausanne, Switzerland. In addition, he has a M.Sc. in Geology and a B.Sc. with Physics, Mathematics, and Geology from India. Bedi speaks French, Hindi, Urdu, and Punjabi.
